Tadley teen dies after collision

A Tadley teenager has died following a crash near Basingstoke earlier this month.

The incident occurred at around 11.15pm on Monday, March 22 when a blue Renault Clio was involved in a collision outside The Broomsquire Hotel in Silchester Road, Tadley.

The 18-year-old’s vehicle struck a parked car and a tree before coming to rest on its roof outside the hotel. The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, where he later died.

The passenger, a 19-year-old also from Tadley, sustained minor head injuries and was treated at the hospital. Silchester Road was closed for six-and-a-half hours while collision investigators carried out a forensic examination of the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle prior to the crash can contact PC Mark Talbot, at Farnborough Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Cedilla, or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
