Basingstoke Town are excited to announce that they have added 24-year-old striker Mitchell Parker to the squad.
After monitoring Mitchell’s development over the early stages of the season and hearing that he had decided to leave Reading City, it was important that the club made their move on the talented striker. Having already scored 19 goals in just 11 games this season for Reading City, he also boasts an England C call up where he will represent in a ambassadorial trip to play two games in the Falkland Islands.
Jason Bristow: “Mitchell is a born goal scorer. His goals per game ratio is quite incredible and we are hoping he can make the step up and get a similar return at this level. He showed a real want to come here and it’s been quite an easy process. Whilst we know there was a lot of interest from other clubs, I think this club is a really good fit for him. He’ll join an already impressive front line that we have here and whilst he knows there are parts of his game we are going to work on, he is going to be a valuable asset to us this year and hopefully a long time after.”
The goal ratio that Jason speaks of is very impressive. A total of 68 goals in just 56 appearances across the last three seasons.
Mitchell Parker: “I wanted to sign for Basingstoke as they have the same ambition as I have. I want to help Basingstoke push forward and continue to improve my game in the process. I’m extremely excited to get going, I’ll always do my best to help the team push as high as we possibly can.”
BFC would like to thank Reading City for their good grace in the handling of this transfer and for wishing Mitchell the best of luck.
