British duo undone at Wimbledon

Josh Goodall’s assault on the Wimbledon doubles competition came to an end on Friday with a straight sets loss to former finalists. The Basingstoke ace teamed up with fellow Brit Jamie Delgado faced Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi, beaten finalists in 2003, but were comfortably beaten 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

Rob vents his frustration after third consecutive shunt

Hook speedster Rob Collard has voiced his frustration after being shunted out of a podium position for the third consecutive event at last month’s meeting at Croft in North Yorkshire.Collard almost snatched victory in race one, crossing the line just three hundredths of a second behind the eventual winner but rounds 14 and 15 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship proved a nightmare for the Hampshireman.

Murray's mum hails tennis youngsters

Teenagers from a Basingstoke college were given a tennis masterclass by Judy Murray this week as reward for their efforts in a nationwide tournament.

A team of four from Queen Mary’s College won the mixed doubles in the AEGON Team Tennis Schools Senior Students competition in March and Judy – mother of world number four Andy Murray – spent more than an hour coaching the youngsters at Totally Tennis, in the War Memorial Park. Fond farewell for Fitchett

Andrew Fitchett kicked his final points before a return to New Zealand as Basingstoke beat Portsmouth 55-14.
