BASINGSTOKE Bison recorded yet another home win but needed overtime to see off the challenge of Romford Raiders at Planet Ice on Saturday. Steve Moria’s Herd are now pushing for fourth spot in the league after a thrilling tie in the town. Knowing their opponents are formidable on home ice, Raiders began defensively and shut out the hosts until the ninth minute, as Nicky Chinn found the back of the net from an Ondrej Lauko pass. Raiders began to venture out in the second period and were instantly rewarded with their first goal.
Dallas Constanzo was left with the simple task of tapping in from a sweeping move to level the scores three minutes after the restart. The second period, by far the most even of the match, saw Bison’s hard work go unrewarded. But as the third began, Chinn added his second of the day to edge Bison back in front. But again Raiders hit back and Darius Pliskauskas restored parity at 2-2. The fifth goal would always be crucial as the game headed into overtime and fortunately it came for the hosts, as Moria reacted quickly at 62:53 to give Bison a valuable 3-2 win.
