Basingstoke Bison signed off their league campaign with a thumping 7-1 win over Swindon Wildcats at Planet Ice on Sunday.
Ondrej Lauko bagged another hat trick but Bison left it late to snatch the points, netting five goals in the final period to ensure the supporters went home happy.
At the end of a gruelling season in the English Premier League Bison finished fifth and will battle with rivals Guildford Flames in the play-off quarter finals. Despite a strong opening Bison only managed to find the back of the net once courtesy of Mindy Kieras.
Raimonds Danilics levelled for the visitors shortly afterwards but Joe Ciccarello was on hand to restore their lead. And the final session was totally dominated by the Bison, with Jamie Line, Steve Moria and Lauko all netting to secure a 7-1 win.
The Bison had travelled to Milton Keynes Lightning on Saturday night hoping to spoil the league leader’s party. Lightning were due to collect their league winners trophy following the match and they kept the party atmosphere going with a 4-2 win.
