Fans at Planet Ice had forgotten what home defeat felt like after 12 straight home wins, but visiting Slough Jets stole the points to break Basingstoke Bison’s hot streak.
A 4-2 win was harsh on Steve Moria’s Herd though, who fought to defend their incredible run on home ice.
Brothers Adam and Joe Greener hit the back of the net while Slava Koulikov also netted, while Ondrej Lauko hit the response for Bison to take his tally to 50 for the season. Bison opened the scoring through Tom Long but the visitors were soon level courtesy of Koulikov.Peter Poljacek then edged Jets in front at the end of the first period.
After the restart Jets increased doubled their advantage but good link-up play saw Lauko blast in the Bison’s second of the day.But Jets had the last laugh as Adam Greener restored the two goal cushion and ended Bison’s dream run.
Earlier in the week Bison had seen off Milton Keynes Lightning after edging their midweek clash 3-2. Ollie Bronnimann and Tom Annetts were among the Bison scorers, who needed extra time to see off their spirited opponents.
