Goals galore as Bison end their slump

BisonLogo-10BASINGSTOKE Bison secured two wins over the weekend, treating their fans to seven goals in each outing.

On Saturday, they downed Slough Jets 7-3 away, with Nicky Chinn scoring a hat trick. Then on Sunday, the Herd tamed Swindon Wildcats 7-2 at home, with Daniel Volrab taking a hat trick honours.

The weekend marked the end of the Bison’s slump, with their tally boosted to six wins on-the-trot. They now sit fifth in the English Premier League on 21 points after 18 games played and are equal on points with fourth-place Milton Keynes Lightning and five points shy of EPL leaders Guildford Flames.

On Saturday, Joe Miller opened the scoring after three minutes. The Jets drew level three minutes later through former Bison Mindy Kieras.

Bison favourite Vicktor Kubenko restored the lead shortly after, but then the Jets drew level through Tom Carlon.

In the second period, Chinn bagged his first six minutes in. Volrab made it 4-2 after finishing a Liam Chong pass.

Chinn got his second on 28 minutes, giving the Herd a 5-2 lead going into the final period.  And in the final 20, Bronimann and Chinn wrapped up the Bison’s scoring. An Adam Calder goal provided some consolation for the Jets.

On Sunday, Bison bagged four goals in the opening period to give them the advantage against the Wildcats. By the end of the first period, Volrab, Kubenko, Moria  and Chong all found goals.

But the match could have been tighter if the Wildcats had taken their chances, but were denied by Matt Colclough in goal.

In the final period, Bison netted a further three goals through Sam Oakford and  Volrab took two. Jonas Hoog scored the Wildcats’ second.

The Bison are in action on Saturday against Manchester Phoenix at home before taking on Bracknell Bees on Sunday.
