Basingstoke Bison's winning streak continued over the weekend with a double victory against Swindon Wildcats.
The Herd's four-point haul gives them a five-point buffer in fourth place in the ice hockey premier league and they trail one point behind Slough Jets with a game in hand.
The double-header saw the Bison rack up 11 goals against Swindon.
On Saturday, away at Swindon, the Bison won 5-3, with Victor Kubenko netting his second hat- trick of the season.
At home on Sunday, they continued where they left off, winning
6-5 against the Wiltshire visitors.
The double victory puts the Basingstoke side on course for a semi-final place in the English Premier League Cup, where only the top four qualify.
On the Saturday, it was the visitors who netted first as the Wildcats’ Matt Foord scored on the 10 minute mark.
Leading Bison goalscorer Ondrej Lauko brought the teams level a minute later.
Kubenko got off the mark soon after, netting a rebound from a Tony Redmond shot.
The end-to-end nature of the first period allowed former Bison Ryan Aldridge to keep the Wildcats in the game, scoring on 15 minutes.
In the second period, the Wildcats took and held onto the lead as Jan Melichar scored from a powerplay.
In the final period, a trailing Bison stepped up to the mark, scoring three goals in the 20 minutes.
Callum Best brought the scores level soon into the period and Kubenko netted his second under the pads of Wildcats netminder James Hadfield.
Victory was secured with one minute to go when Kubenko fired into an empty goal following a desperate move by the Wildcats, which saw them pull their netminder in favour of an out-player.
Basingstoke completed their winning streak at home on Sunday.
The closely-fought game saw the Bison come back from 0-2 and 1-3.
Ondrej Lauko and Ciaran Long both scored two goals each.
Nicky Chinn also added to the total and Carl Graham netted his first goal for the Herd.
Lee Richardson scored first for the Wildcats, and Toivo Suursoo and Egidijus Bauba kept the Wildcats in the lead, but they were unable to stop the stampeding Herd.
Next week, the Bison square off in a double-header against the Peterborough Phantoms, who they have won every time this season.
