Generic_Basingstoke_Town_FC_1_of_1It was a case of the Late Lake show for the Dragons as Town made it five in a row undefeated in the League with midfielder Stuart Lake bringing the three points back to the Camrose with a late winner.  The home side enjoyed more possession and territory than their guests but the game produced only one shot on target from either side and Basingstoke took that chance six minutes from time.

Town just fail to grab double win

Generic_Basingstoke_Town_FC_1_of_1Two games in three days at the Camrose saw contrasting fortunes for the Dragons – a league win on Saturday, but a loss in the Hampshire Senior Cup on Monday.

First up were Woking, against which the home side secured three points.

Town on wrong end of bizarre decision

Generic_Basingstoke_Town_FC_1_of_1In the run-up to their clash with Weston-super-Mare on Monday, the Dragon's had a busy festive period playing matches against Farnborough and Maidenhead United.

It was a case of two points dropped and two points gained for the Dragons over the festive period.

Importantly 'Stoke showed a never-say-die spirit and played some decent football two earn two draws.

Dragons trophy hopes dashed

DragonsDenisMurphyBasingstoke FC's first match in nearly three weeks ended with the Dragons eliminated from the FA Trophy by near neighbours Salisbury City following a 0-2 loss at home on Saturday.

Town were on the back foot from before the kick-off, having not played since their Trophy replay victory at Havant & Waterlooville.

Manager Frank Gray had to field a weakened side, starting without a first choice goalkeeper, two centre backs and three forwards because of injuries and suspensions.

Football loses out to snow

Generic_Basingstoke_Town_FC_1_of_1The misery continues for the Dragons, with their match at Thurrock on November 30 and last Saturday’s home match against Staines becoming casualties of the early Arctic blast.

Having also lost the fixture at Dorchester due to snow,  the games are now piling up for Town, with Saturday and midweek games in prospect throughout January.

On Friday, the Camrose was under four inches of snow and,despite the rise in temperatures early on Saturday, the game was called off.
