In the run-up to their clash with Weston-super-Mare on Monday, the Dragon's had a busy festive period playing matches against Farnborough and Maidenhead United.
It was a case of two points dropped and two points gained for the Dragons over the festive period.
Importantly 'Stoke showed a never-say-die spirit and played some decent football two earn two draws.
December 28 heralded a welcome return to football after the bad weather and it was the first league action for the Camrose side since November 15.
High flying Farnborough were hoping for the three points at Rushmoor Stadium to go top of the table.
Greg Draper returned to the side after his spell out with injury and it was Town who made the early running with neat passing and they showed no fear of their hosts.
The home side enjoyed a good spell in the middle of the first half, but it was the Dragons who finished the half strongly and looked in control.
Town were dealt a blow at half-time with an injury to Matt Warner, who was replaced by Jide Ogunbote.
The hosts took the lead eight minutes into the second half. A hopeful ball forward found substitute Bradley Bubb and his shot from the angle bounced in front of Simon Moore and up his arm and into the net.
Seven minutes later, the Dragons found the equaliser. Callum Reynolds set Ogunbote away down the left and his cross found Draper who put it in the net.
Town finished the match strongly and put in a performance worthy of their point.
New Year’s Day saw the Dragons in action away to Maidenhead. The game started off at a pace with end-to-end action and looked set to give fans a decent match.
But this game was changed in the 12th minute by what can only be described as a shocker by referee Adam Fielding.
Martel Powell ran onto a long ball forward for the home side ahead of the advancing Moore.
The striker got his shot away and wide and was then caught outside the area by Moore.
Astonishingly, Fielding dismissed the Dragons keeper without consultation with his assistant and awarded the home side a free kick.
Manager Frank Gray had no substitute keeper on the bench.
In a reshuffle, Draper made way for Matt Finlay and central defender Ross Adams went in goal.
His first job was to pick the ball out of the goal as the home side crashed the free kick into the net.
Sensing injustice, the visitors controlled the second half, spurred on by a frenzy of noise from their fans.
Adams looked comfortable in goal, David Pratt and Warner were a constant threat and the home side looked ill at ease and showed very little sign of increasing their lead.
With 20 minutes left, Gray replaced Rob Rice with Matt Pattison and as the closing minutes ticked away the Magpies began to look desperate, holding onto their lead against their short-handed opponents.
Nathan Smart and Tom Williamson both had half chances before Adams did well at the other end saving with his legs.
Reward came on 86 minutes with Warner getting in a fine cross from the left and Pratt diving in to head home.
The home side responded with a shot wide of the post, but Town could have secured the points in injury time with Pattison and Pratt linking up, the striker pulling his shot wide.
A great team effort and a well deserved point.
