Basingstoke take title challenge to the wire

Basingstoke and North Hants go into the final day of the Thames Valley League Division One title race with everything to play for after beating Fleet by seven wickets on Saturday.

League leaders Cove also won a tricky fixture at third-placed Kew to set up a tense finale, with the sides separated by just three points.  The Bountymen skittled Fleet out for 133, with Martyn James excelling with the ball to claim 539.

Basingstoke title challenge postponed by rain

Basingstoke and North Hants remain in the hunt for the Thames Valley League division one title after Saturday's entire programme was wiped out by rain.

The Bountymen lie second in the league just three points behind Cove, with two games remaining.  Hosting Finchampstead on Saturday, Basingstoke loss the toss and the visitors were 26-1 when the game had to be abandoned.

Hants claim first county championship win of season

Hampshire claimed their first LV Championship win of the season at Durham to keep their faint hopes of survival alive.

Hampshire declared their first innings on 275-7 in a rain-affected game.  Chasing a victory to keep their title hopes alive, Durham agreed to forfeit an innings to ensure a positive result but wickets fell quickly with Dmitri Mascarenhas taking 6-62, including 3-11 in his first eight overs.  Kabir Ali chipped in with 3-69.

Bountymen thrash league leaders to close gap

Basingstoke and North Hants thrashed Thames Valley League leaders Cove by nine wickets on Saturday to narrow the gap at the top of Division One to just three points.

Home side Cove won the toss and decided to bat first at Grasmere Road but their innings quickly disintegrated into farce.  Martyn James had James Marsh (3) caught by Jack Parsons and then Dilon Heyliger removed fellow opener Nick Randall lbw for a duck.

Superb Heyliger century seals tense one-wicket win

Dillon Heyliger hit a superb 118 from 83 balls as Basingstoke and North Hants sneaked a one wicket victory over High Wycombe 2nds at May's Bounty on Saturday.

The last gasp victory kept Basingstoke's hopes of securing the Thames Valley League title alive for another week.  High Wycombe won the toss elected to bat, and it looked like a bad decision when opener Russell Curzon-Thompson was caught by Andrew Fulton off the bowling of Martyn James for a duck.
