Basingstoke take title challenge to the wire

Basingstoke and North Hants go into the final day of the Thames Valley League Division One title race with everything to play for after beating Fleet by seven wickets on Saturday.

League leaders Cove also won a tricky fixture at third-placed Kew to set up a tense finale, with the sides separated by just three points.  The Bountymen skittled Fleet out for 133, with Martyn James excelling with the ball to claim 539.

In reply, Basingstoke knocked off the required runs with ease thanks to an unbeaten fourth wicket stand of 65 between Russell Droy (34 no) and Dilon Heyliger (37 no).  Basingstoke must now beat fourth-placed Amersham at May's Bounty to have any hope of the title, and hope Cove fail to beat Finchampstead at home.
