Michael Carberry and Neil McKenzie broke the record for Hampshire's highest ever partnership as the the pair made a stand of 523 in the County Championship draw with Yorkshire.
The stand, the third highest in championship history, ended when McKenzie fell for a career-best 237. Carberry, in only his third game since recovering from a blood clot on his lung, made a maiden triple century from 427 balls that included 43 fours and two sixes.
The game ended in a draw, but there was further success for Hants when they beat Durham at the Rose Bowl on Sunday to book their place in the T20 semi finals.
Hants scored 154-6 in their 20 overs despite the big hitting Shahid Afridi being run out without facing a ball, and spinner Danny Briggs ripped through the Durham batting order to finish with figures of 5-19 as the visitors were bowled out for just 99.
