Tadley Calleva boss hopes for a boost in performances

Tadley Calleva boss Danny Dolan believes the squad has the right ingredients to get off the bottom of the league.

The Wessex League Division 1 strugglers lie 18th following a turbulent opening half on the  season.

But with players returning from injury and youth team members stepping up to the mark, Dolan believes the squad can turn the tables in the New Year.

“All in all it looks like we are going in the right direction,” he said. “We have a few games in hand over the team above us and I don’t see why, if we keep doing as we are, why we can’t be off the bottom by at least February.

“But it’s all about results and if you are not up for each game you will get beaten at this level. Every game is difficult no matter where you are in the league.”

On Saturday Dolan’s men were disappointed not to come away with three points at home following a 1-1 draw against Stockbridge.

The match saw Ashley Perry have his first outing this season following a long-running injury, and Ian Cadman joined the squad after being sidelined for six-weeks with a knee injury.

Tadley took the lead on the half hour mark after Danny Vickers headed home a James Winfield cross.

But five minutes before half time Stockbridge striker Craig Blakeman headed into the bottom right past Tadley keeper Darren Maunder.

Despite a dominant second-half Tadley were unable to find the equaliser.

Dolan hopes the run of good form will boost the squad’s confidence as they head into the North Hampshire Senior Cup semi-final on December 17 at home against Wessex Premier division outfit Alresford Town.

Tadley next face Amesbury Town away on Saturday.
