Humberstone’s hero as ’Stoke rises clear of relegation zone

Week46-HumberstoneBasingstoke RFC took home the points after a battling victory over North Walsham on Saturday.

After a week’s rest, the Down Grange squad looked to continue their winning momentum after beating Diss.

Junior Paramore's men are now fourth from bottom of the National Three London and SE league, two points clear of the relegation zone.

’Stoke opened the scoring after 10 minutes with winger Ashley Patterson scoring.

Four minutes later, Walsham took the lead with a converted try. The home side's forwards took the ball from a lineout and drove through ’Stoke's defence.

Walsham doubled the lead seven minutes later, capitalising on a three-man overlap.

Andrew Humberstone scored a penalty just before the half-hour mark, bringing the score to 14-8.

Five minutes after the restart, Walsham made it 19-8.

It took five minutes for the visitors to come back into the game. Patterson scored his second try with Humberstone  converting.

Both sides were level going into the final 20 minutes after a ’Stoke gave away a penalty for offside.

’Stoke won the game with four minutes left on the clock. Walsham were penalised in the ruck and Humberstone converted the winner, ending the scores on 25-22.
