Sloppy mistakes lead to RFC humiliation

10-ThrudefenceBasingstoke Rugby Club suffered a massive defeat against Hertford at the weekend.

The Down Grange side came into the match on the back of two consecutive wins that had got them out of the relegation zone.

However, Basingstoke failed to get any points on the board on Saturday and conceded 64 points to the visitors.

Hertford opened the scoring in the 12th minute. A penalty was kicked to the corner and from the resulting lineout, they managed to get across the line.

Humberstone’s hero as ’Stoke rises clear of relegation zone

Week46-HumberstoneBasingstoke RFC took home the points after a battling victory over North Walsham on Saturday.

After a week’s rest, the Down Grange squad looked to continue their winning momentum after beating Diss.

Junior Paramore's men are now fourth from bottom of the National Three London and SE league, two points clear of the relegation zone.

Close but no win for RFC

Rugby-Aaron_NoonanBasingstoke Rugby Club came within three points of victory at the weekend with a much-improved performance at Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday.

The club’s recent poor performances leave them rooted at the bottom of the National Three London and Southeast League table.

The visitors failed to come away with any points, losing 19 – 17.

In a departure from previous pattern, it was the home side who opened the scoring, getting a converted try within two minutes of play.

Matchday blues continue for RFC

BasingstokeRFCLogoBasingstoke remain rooted to the bottom of the league after letting slip a 14-point lead at home to Gravesend on Saturday.

The game finished 17-34 to the visitors, despite ’Stoke having a two-try advantage early on in the game.

Junior Paramore’s side were 17-5 up at the half hour point.

Simon Appleby scored the first try after two minutes following a break from ’Stoke second row Matt Horne. Andrew Humberstone converted to put Basingstoke 7-0 up.

'Stoke bottom of the league

Week4-Rugby-1Basingstoke slipped to the bottom of the league after a poor performance away to Tring on Saturday.

Junior Parmore's side were only able to put over two tries in 80 minutes, with the home side’s five earning them a 36-10 win.

’Stoke went into the match on the back of a 23-16 win against Bracknell last week. However, the side were unable to carry over the momentum.

The opening 15 minutes produced five tries – three for the home side and two for the visitors.
