London-based comedian Chris Martin will be performing at The Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre in Bordon tomorrow evening, Friday, January 29.
The 29-year-old, whose run of shows will come to an end on March 10 in Glasgow, comes to the Station Road theatre as part of his ‘This Show Has a Soundtrack’ tour.
And with many younger members of the public being addicted to their iPhones, iPads and various other gadgets, Chris has urged them to put them down and try something different - which includes going to see his show.
“You know the film ‘Magic Mike XXL’ with really muscly American strippers? Well, my show is the complete opposite of that,” Chris told the Observer.
“And it is important for people to go out and experience different stuff full stop.
“They need to put down their iPhones, stop going on Snapchat and live their lives.”
After making his stand-up debut in 2005, the funny man has since toured across the world and has developed a strong fan base.
His debut solo show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2011 ‘Chris Martin. No. Not That One’ finally but him on the comedy map.
Yet, he still has not performed in Bordon and hopes that tomorrow’s gig will help him attract a few more followers.
“I have never performed here before,” he said.
“I’m excited as it’s got Phoenix in the title.
“Anywhere named after a mythical creature has to have a fun up-for-it whimsical crowd?”
It starts at 8pm and tickets cost £12, or £10 for concessions.
