Taking fundraising to new heights

Basingstoke fundraisers reached new heights in their bid to support Ark Cancer Charity earlier this month.

A team of 18 fundraisers abseiled 100 metres down the Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth on May 13 to support the Basingstoke-based cancer charity.

Many of the fundraisers were from, or took part under the banner of, Beaufort Financial, one of Ark’s Our Partner corporate sponsors.

The abseil team also featured members of the Arkriders, who have raised more than £150,000 for Ark, and representatives from other companies that have supported the charity.

Ark’s director of fundraising and communications, Mark Jones, said: “This was an amazing feat by an incredible group of people. Ark is grateful to all 18 of the inspirational abseilers who took part, and to everyone who has sponsored them.”

Ark is raising £5m towards a new cancer treatment centre on the existing Basingstoke hospital site.

So far, the Ark abseilers have raised nearly £2,500 towards the target.
