A Basingstoke woman with secondary breast cancer is hosting an afternoon tea party to raise money for a care charity.
Carol Ward, 46, from Axford near Basingstoke, and husband Jamie, are hoping to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Care at an afternoon tea party next month.
Carol, who works as a client technical manager in the IT industry, said: “I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in January 2018, having beaten primary breast cancer two years ago, and this time there is no cure.
“I am looking forward to hosting an afternoon tea to say thank you to my friends and family for their support, while raising awareness and money for Breast Cancer Care for the great work they do in supporting me and my husband, as well as many other women and their partners in this situation.”
Carol is holding her second afternoon tea and is encouraging friends, neighbours and Basingstoke residents to come along and support the charity.
She added that her ambition is to raise £100,000 for cancer charities at the party.
“I am looking forward to holding a second afternoon tea as it’s a fun way to bring together people from the local community while also raising money for Breast Cancer Care,” she said.
“We’d love locals to join us for some delicious scones, sandwiches and cakes. There will also be games and competitions too so there’s something for everyone.”
Breast Cancer Care is a specialist UK wide charity providing support for women, men, family and friends affected by breast cancer.
Chief executive Samia al Qadhi said: “We’re so grateful to everyone who holds an afternoon tea in aid of Breast Cancer Care this summer.
“The money raised will enable Breast Cancer Care to continue to provide vital support for the 691,000 people living with breast cancer in the UK today.”
Carol and Jamie’s afternoon tea is being held at Crondall Village Hall, Croft Lane, in Farnham, Surrey, on June 23 between 1pm and 3.30pm.
