THE Britten Sinfonia are at The Anvil on Tuesday 26 April, joined by rising stars Mishka Rushdie Momen on piano and Matilda Lloyd on trumpet.
The programme includes Shostakovich’s brilliantly youthful and witty Concerto and Prokofiev’s whimsical Visions Fugitives, the original solo piano miniatures alternating with arrangements for strings. Tchaikovsky’s glorious Serenade for Strings and a new work by composer Alissa Firsova complete this journey further east.
Matilda shared: “The Shostakovich Concerto No.1 is one of my favourite pieces of music as it is so full of different characters and emotions, from humour to sadness to irony. I’m also really looking forward to premiering Alissa Firsova’s new work Stages, I had the great pleasure to work with her in Munich on the piece and I can’t wait to hear how it all comes together with the orchestra.”
Tickets for the Britten Sinfonia are priced at £42, £38, £31, £24, £16. Under 25s, f/t students pay just £11 (includes £4 booking fee). Contact the Anvil Arts box office on 01256 844244 or visit anvilarts.org.uk.
