ENFORCEMENT officers from Hart District Council have successfully prosecuted a fly-tipper who illegally dumped two fridges.
The man, from Yateley, pleaded guilty and was fined £948 by Basingstoke Magistrates Court.
The resident was caught on CCTV earlier this year unloading two fridges from his van and leaving them next to commercial bins at Blackbushe Business Park, Yateley. The prosecution claimed he deliberately committed the offence because his van was seen twice at the business park the previous week.
The fly tipper said he was helping out a friend and had not received any money for doing so.
He was fined £480 for the offence, £120 for clear-up costs, a £48 surcharge and £300 towards costs.
Councillor Alan Oliver, Cabinet Member for Environment at Hart District Council, said: “This is yet another successful prosecution which shows that we will not give up chasing fly tippers and bringing them to justice.
“Illegal dumping of waste is a criminal offence, blighting our environment and costing Hart taxpayers to clean up. The Council is committed to keeping our district green and clean and we need the public’s continued support to report incidents and put fly tippers out of business.”
