Be Your Own Champion

WITH an increase in start-up businesses, the desire to have a controllable work life balance and manage your budget for financial reward is something that is growing increasingly popular.

But, in a time of post covid uncertainty and a cost-of-living crisis, how can a person confidently turn their ideas to a business reality that will lead to success?

A new coaching team has created a PR and marketing guide called Find your Stride that aims to upskill and empower small start-up businesses, solopreneurs and freelancers. The aim: to promote who they are and what they do in a clear and engaging way.

Basingstoke sisters Jocelyn and Louise understand what it’s like to launch a new business venture. The duo has over forty years combined experience as marketing and media specialists, mentors, event organisers, filmmakers, broadcasters and business owners.

Louise shared: “We often see and hear success stories of running a business which is great, and it looks easy. But people don’t realise that behind the scenes, it takes a lot of planning and strategising to keep yourself on track. The thing to remember is being in business can be a lonely experience for some. You have to do the sales, sort out social media and marketing activity, meeting clients, fix any IT issues and do your tax accounts… all of this while trying to eat and sleep in between. It can be stressful but there are tools out there to help make life that little bit less stressful and we want to help people during this journey, by building a community of like-minded people for support.”

Jocelyn added: “Life is full of distractions, and we are all time poor, so our toolkit is about helping you feel in control of making a business or project reach its audience. Find Your Stride – The Creative Business Inspiration Tool Kit will help you to navigate how to create campaigns and engagement in bite sized chunks, making it feel like less of a chore. Progress takes time and sustained engagement takes development so by trying our toolkit sections, you are already on the right path to creating a business that suits the needs of your customers and audience.

We wrote this guide based on our experience and knowledge to make life easier for those who are struggling and haven’t got the time or money to hire an expensive agency. The whole point of Find your Stride is to read the sections and implement the tips in your own time based on our own journey to launch and run your business.”

Louise believes that consistency is key to get started: “No one says being in business is easy but our advice is to start and start today. Finding your Stride is about running your own race to create the success that matters to you. Start small with a small action list to keep yourself accountable so you can see progress. Be your own champion and talk about your business with pride and enthusiasm in person and also in online or digital spaces to make yourself visible. But moreover, it’s your business or project so enjoy it and all the new experiences, lessons and opportunities that come your way.”
