Planning For The Future

IT’S still a really tough time for small businesses but Overton Business Association is working hard to help.

In its recent workshop, Planning for The Future, held in St Luke’s hall in March, the OBA invited representatives from business, sport and church to explore opportunities for better networking and collaboration.

Sponsorship of community events was high on the agenda with this year’s Queen’s Jubilee celebrations and Scarecrow Festival.

Speaking as a key organiser of OBA events, committee member Martin Fielder said: “Overton has always had a strong community spirit and the OBA is determined to support all efforts to keep this alive.”

During the group’s AGM held on Tuesday 5th April in the relaxed surroundings of the Greyhound pub, many plans were discussed, including how to offer work experience for local students from Testbourne Community School.

Employing local people is regarded as a priority for the OBA. The OBA plans to hold monthly networking meetings with the first due on Thursday 5th May, 7.30pm in the Red Lion pub, Overton.

All businesses, members or not, in and around Overton are welcome.
