Community Pool Purchases New Heat Pump

At the latest meeting of the Four Lanes Trust, Overton Community Pool were successful in their bid for a new heat pump to replace the current one which is no longer up to the task.

The Trustees of the Four Lanes Trust were impressed with the standard of the facility and the community involvement at the pool which is run completely by volunteers.

Lauren McCann, a trustee of the Lordsfield Swimming Club at Overton Community Pool said: “At a time when many outdoor pools are being closed, Overton Community Pool is a real success story. Run by the community for the community, it has provided affordable swimming for everyone in Overton Parish since the early 1960s. Support from the Four Lanes Trust will help ensure people from 1 to 92 years old enjoy the water, have fun and reap lots of other health benefits once again this summer. Thank you!”

A total of £12,709 was awarded at the recent meeting. This was distributed among 8 groups. In the Education category Aldworth School received funds to develop a film and careers space. Kala the Arts and Fluid Motion Theatre both received grants to support their summer projects. While in the Community Category St Mark’s Church request for two new radiators was successful along with requests from the Samaritans, Basingstoke Tinnitus Support Group and Oakley Stitchers. Each of the successful groups provide valuable support and/or services to residents of Basingstoke and Deane and the Four Lanes Trust is pleased to be able to support them in their endeavours.

We prefer to support small capital purchases not general running costs with most of our grants being under £1,000 or less however, occasionally we are able to give a larger grant.

Closing date for the next round of applications is Thursday 5th May. There is no application form.
