Couple Complete Cape to Cape Classic Car Rally

DRIVING a classic car around the UK whilst raising more than £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support is just what Philippe and Sue Allison, from Hook have achieved.

Their gleaming 1939 Citroen Light 15 Roadster, the second oldest car in the rally, ate up the miles in style alongside 39 other entrants from as far afield as America.

Philippe explained: “Our Citroen was the second oldest car competing and survived with no mechanical failures, which is more than can be said for some. By the time we got home we covered some 4,000 miles. It has been tough on us and on the car but we have made it and raised well over £5,000 for Macmillan. We are so glad to have been part of this historic event.”

The rally was not a race but a celebration of classic cars and brought together like-minded enthusiasts.

The epic escapade set off from Newquay on Saturday 23 April, returning via Cape Cornwall on 7 May. The route took in various points throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and a circular tour of the whole of Ireland

Jemma Luker, Regional Fundraising Manager, Hampshire said, “For this event to have raised more than £1m over its 14 year history is a remarkable achievement. Our thanks go to everyone who has taken part. Everyone who takes part in a fundraising event for Macmillan has their own special reason and the funds they raise help us to do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer. We cannot thank the entrants and Cape to Cape supporters enough.”
