Easter Family Fun Day

Cracking Easter At Proteus

ON Tuesday 12th April Proteus will bring The Herd Theatre’s playful interactive adventures to Basingstoke for young children and their families.

Aimed predominantly at 2-5 year olds, young theatre-goers can expect to get stuck in with slime, the homemade goo-ey phenomenon which has been taking over the internet since 2016, as they help Slug and Caterpillar to work together to form an unlikely friendship, despite their differences.

The fully immersive and accessible experience from the Hull-based company will transform Proteus Creation Space into a slime-tastic undergrowth for all, with British Sign Language integrated throughout.

Director Ruby Thompson said: “This isn’t a traditional play performed in a traditional theatre. We’re delighted to host a unique theatrical experience for the very young. During the show, children and their grownups can be as loud as they want - giggle, dance, wriggle and talk. We can’t wait to welcome young audiences into the undergrowth.”

Later in the week Proteus Creation Space will be ‘Eggs-travagantly’ transformed to host an Easter/ Spring-themed Family fun day, involving lots of crafts and spring- themed activities to encourage little minds and hands to get creative.

There will be a screening of a child-friendly film in the afternoon, but not before attendees take part in the Great Egg Hunt with a few surprise interactive performances along the way, around the arts centre, where completed trails will be rewarded with a chocolate treat. The activities are best suited to children between ages 3-8 years old, although older/younger siblings are welcome as parents will be required to stay to supervise.

This evening, Thursday 31 March, will see an Easter/Spring-themed wreath-making workshop led by experienced tutor Shelagh Thompson.

More information and tickets to all the events can be purchased from Proteus’ website www.proteustheatre.com.
