Basingstoke ObserverNHS researcher, Dawn Hill, from Basingstoke, has beaten hundreds of applicants to land the egg-ceptional role of Aldi’s Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer, along with two other specially selected members of the public.
The competition asked participants up and down the country to send in audition videos, competing to be Aldi’s Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer.
The three lucky winners all received free Easter eggs in exchange for providing feedback on the range. Chocolate lover and mother of two, Dawn, shared her feedback on the eggs, which will help to inform Aldi’s buying team when planning for the supermarket’s 2023 Easter range.
To land the role, Dawn, who works at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, submitted a video entry describing her judging and chocolate tasting abilities. Judges found the entry to be ‘warm’ and ‘charming’, with Dawn displaying a ‘clear passion for chocolate’.
Dawn shared: “I’m over the moon to have been chosen as Aldi’s Easter Egg Tasting Officer! I’m a big fan of chocolate in all shapes and forms, and will try my best to give honest reviews of the eggs. I can’t wait to get started with the tastings and look forward to sharing my thoughts with the Aldi team.”
Dawn’s husband, Steven, added: “I’m thrilled that Dawn won and not at all surprised as she is such a chocolate lover. I can’t wait for the eggs to arrive now - I may even have to ‘assist’ with the trialling myself!”

Dawn will be joining Connor Ewujowoh, aged nine from Sunderland, and Hallie McIntosh, aged nine from Fife, in this year’s Easter Egg Tasting Officer line up.
