Basingstoke ObserverLOCAL Charity Basingstoke Mencap would like to say a big thank you to Sainsburys logistics depot in Basingstoke for their generous donation of £500, where all the staff at the depot raised money by organising raffles and activities over the past few months.
Charity Manager, Tatu Delaney shared: “Chloe Loughlin, presented the cheque of £500 on behalf of all her colleagues, received by Jo Bellamy who attends GreenFingers garden therapy project and her mum Jane, and two volunteers at GreenFingers Nick Chomiak and Adam Shearing, whose time given to the project is invaluable.
The money will go a long way in supporting Basingstoke Mencap, especially GreenFingers a garden therapy project for people with a learning disability, providing therapy through gardening and promoting mental wellbeing, who was hit quite badly by Storm Eunice a few months ago flattening the much-used Polytunnel.”
Part of the project is to provide horticulture experience to people with learning disabilities, to support in growing bedding plants, fruit, and vegetables which are available to the public at their monthly plant sales which are held the last Saturday of every month.
Their next plant sale will be on the 30th of April from 10am-1pm at Elizabeth Road Allotments that brings the community together and raises much needed revenue to keep the project running.
