Get Creative At Summer Craft Workshops

GET creative with Anvil Arts and join the summer craft workshops being held during the day at The Anvil in June and July.

On Thursday 9 June there’s a Rag Rug Workshop. The day aims to give a great introduction to rag rugs, using traditional prodder and hook techniques. During the workshop, you will work on a small item which can be turned into a cushion, bag or wall hanging. You’ll cover all the basics including transferring a design, and the different stitches needed, as well as how to complete your project.

All tools will be provided for you to use in the workshop, and you will be given a wooden peg prodder to take home. You will need to have good hand dexterity and strength, as there is a lot of twisting, pulling, and scissor movements.

On Thursday 30 June, join willow sculptor artist Jacqueline Rolls as she helps you create a Small Honeybee Willow. Your piece of work will create a great statement piece and unusual sculpture for your home or garden.

On Tuesday 19 July, join the Willow Birdhouse Workshop and create a teardrop shaped willow birdhouse, with a round or square entrance hole, which is a great introduction to basketry techniques.

Please note: working with willow can be tough on the hands, so if you have a condition, such as arthritis or carpel tunnel syndrome, you may find this activity difficult to do.

All the workshops will run from 10am until 4.30pm at The Anvil. Tickets for each workshops are £65. The price includes tuition, tools and materials as well as basic refreshments, but please bring your own lunch. The workshops are suitable for ages 18 and over.
