Dance Academy To Compete On International Stage

DANCERS from the multi-award winning dance school, Basingstoke Academy of Dancing are preparing to compete for Team England.

Thirty nine dancers ages 8 to 20, are travelling to San Sebastian in Spain at the end of this week to compete for Team England in the Finals of Dance World Cup.

Their Team England Kit has just arrived and the academy will be joining thousands of dancers across the world in this international dance competition.

Tanya Schipelbaum shared: “The girls and Joe have been hard at work rehearsing eleven routines in various dance genres - Commercial Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Song & Dance and Jazz. They have also been hard at work fundraising with Raffles and Car washes and various other activities, as competing at this level, costuming and travelling in these times, is very expensive. They have been very lucky and honoured to be sponsored by Winchester Skoda - who has kindly paid for all their Team England Jackets.

The team is being accompanied by Principal Tanya Schipelbaum and Vice Principal Charlotte West and some parents as many children need chaperoning.

Last August, most of this same team competed in a delayed 2020/2021 Dance World Cup Finals in Telford England and came away with one World Title - 6 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals and helped Team England win the overall Dance World Cup 2020/21.

Best of luck to everyone!
